A severe fire engulfed a warehouse on Foreshore Road, Howrah, on Friday morning, shrouding the vicinity in black smoke. The incident occurred just after the morning shift commenced at 6 o'clock, with the blaze intensifying in the pit on the foreshore road of the port. Ten fire engines are currently on-site, battling the flames. Sujit Basukhuddi's warehouse has witnessed significant damage, with the floor collapsing, posing a potential threat to 3-4 workers who may be trapped.
The jute mill adjacent to the warehouse experienced structural damage, leading to shattered glass and falling stones and cobbles. The Malipanchghora police station responded promptly to the incident, and rescue operations are underway to determine if any workers are trapped beneath the debris.
